Position Summary

The Dispensing Pharmacist is a vital member of the Akina Pharmacy team, responsible for ensuring the accurate verification, and dispensing of compounded medications. This role requires a detail-oriented, highly organized pharmacist who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while upholding the highest quality and safety standards.

In this role, you will oversee prescription accuracy, verify compounded medications, and collaborate with pharmacy technicians to ensure timely order fulfillment. You will also assist in maintaining compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality control processes.   • Prescription Verification and Accuracy
    • Review and verify compounded medications to ensure accuracy, compliance with prescriptions, and adherence to company quality standards before dispensing.
  • Meeting Turnaround Time Metrics for Product Fulfillment
    • Ensure medications are dispensed and prepared within established turnaround time goals to maintain efficiency, meet patient needs, and support the pharmacy’s commitment to timely service.
  • Medication Dispensing and Fulfillment
    • Oversee the dispensing process, ensuring compounded medications are properly labeled, packaged, and prepared for patient delivery in a timely manner.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance
    • Adhere to all internal SOPs and regulatory guidelines for pharmacy operations, including documentation, quality control, and beyond-use date verification.
  • Collaboration and Workflow Efficiency
    • Work closely with pharmacy technicians and cross-functional teams to optimize workflow, reduce errors, and maintain efficiency in order processing.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Pharmacist Licensure: Active and unrestricted pharmacist license (PharmD preferred).
  • Operational Expertise in Pharmacy Dispensing: Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, including workflow optimization, quality control, and turn-around time metrics in a dispensing environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Proven ability to ensure accuracy in prescription verification and medication dispensing.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using pharmacy management systems and software for order verification, documentation, and workflow management.
  • Workflow and Time Management: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and quality standards.
  • Process Improvement Mindset: Experience in identifying inefficiencies, implementing process improvements, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational outcomes.
  • Preferred Experience with Compounding Pharmacies: Familiarity with 503A or 503B compounding pharmacies is a plus but not required.
