Position Summary
Akina is a nationally-accredited compounding pharmacy entering its next stage of growth. We have built a strong foundation around product quality, industry-leading turnaround time, and competitive pricing. We are hiring a Director of Sales to translate that foundation into a scalable sales and marketing engine to break the next ceiling of growth.

This is a player-coach role responsible for growing Akina’s provider base, expanding existing provider relationships, and developing the sales team and operating system needed to produce repeatable, predictable growth.

The Director of Sales will report to the Chief Operating Officer. This leader will work hands-on alongside the team, personally driving key strategic opportunities forward, while coaching and developing the team’s capabilities to support future growth. We are looking for someone who has built or materially strengthened a sales and marketing engine before, can move comfortably between strategy and execution, and is excited to help shape the next stage of a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership + Management = Accountability
● Leads using the 5 leadership practices of giving clear direction, providing the necessary resources for success, letting go of the vine via effective delegation and coaching, acting for the greater good, and taking clarity breaks to create space for strategic thinking.
● Manages using the 5 management practices of keeping expectations clear (responsibilities, metrics, goals), open communication via frequent check-ins, holding consistent and effective meetings, promptly addressing issues head-on, and recognizing and rewarding positive behaviors.

New Revenue & Account Expansion
● Generates new revenue by bringing new providers to Akina and expanding into priority regions, markets, and treatment areas.
● Grows and retains existing provider relationships through deeper engagement and additional opportunities to serve their needs.

Marketing
● Sets the marketing strategy and priorities, and directs the execution of campaigns that generate qualified demand, strengthen Akina’s market presence, support product launches, increase provider engagement, and contribute measurably to revenue growth.
● Builds the marketing function’s capability by identifying and securing the right talent or partners to execute day-to-day marketing work.

Revenue Operations
● Establishes Akina’s CRM as a reliable system that makes pipeline, performance, and forecasts visible and actionable.
● Creates and implements sales and marketing playbooks that enable repeatable, scalable execution and consistent adoption across the team.

Financial Planning & Data Analytics
● Develops departmental budgets, revenue forecasts, and compensation plans that align resources and incentives with Akina’s growth objectives.
● Develops reporting and translates data and provider and market feedback into insights that improve decisions, reveal risks and opportunities, and inform product and market strategy.

Success, Defined
● Clear priorities, roles, expectations, and operating rhythms are established.
● Sales and marketing consistently achieve approved targets.
● Akina generates measurable growth from new and existing provider relationships.
● Pipeline, forecasts, and performance data are reliable and actionable.

Qualifications & Experience
● 8–10 years in B2B sales and marketing, ideally in healthcare or pharma
● Demonstrated track record of:

  • Building and leading high-performing sales teams
  • Establishing success metrics and translating data-driven insights into action
  • Developing long-term strategic relationships with key accounts
  • Coordinating sales and marketing activities
  • Building and optimizing CRM systems

● Strong communication and coaching skills
● Acts decisively and follows through with disciplined execution
