Position Summary
We’re a fast-growing compounding pharmacy, and we’re hiring a Director of Sales to build the foundation of our revenue engine.
This is a builder role. You will be the person who creates the systems, runs the plays, coaches the team, and does the work. You will report directly to Akina’s Chief Operating Officer, and carry management responsibility of an Account Executive, a Customer/Provider Success Manager and a Marketing Manager. But equally important is your willingness to roll up your sleeves and be deeply hands-on: building HubSpot workflows, writing sales playbooks, drafting campaigns, going on sales calls, and measuring what works.
If you’re at your best when you’re designing and executing, and you get energy from building things that didn’t exist before, this role is for you.
You will love it here if you are motivated by Akina’s Core Values:
- Excellence Always
- Go-Getters Unite
- Compassion For All
- Called To Serve
You’ll have success here if you are excited about the following key responsibilities:
1. Leadership + Management = Accountability
- Leads using the 5 leadership practices of giving clear direction, providing the necessary resources for success, letting go of the vine via effective delegation and coaching, acting for the greater good, and taking clarity breaks to create space for strategic thinking.
- Manages using the 5 management practices of keeping expectations clear (responsibilities, metrics, goals), open communication via frequent check-ins, holding consistent and effective meetings, promptly addressing issues head-on, and recognizing and rewarding positive behaviors.
2. Sales Execution & Pipeline Development
- Drives sales activity–prospecting, outreach, discovery calls, and closing–while building the playbooks, qualification criteria, and HubSpot pipeline structure that enable the sales team to replicate and scale the work
- Develops the sales enablement toolkit: call scripts, proposal templates, provider pitch decks, and outreach sequences that give the team what it needs to perform consistently.
3. Marketing Ownership & Campaign Support
- Owns Akina’s marketing function and is accountable for related output, directly managing the Marketing Manager while developing and executing the marketing calendar across content, email campaigns, conference and trade show participation, demand generation, and brand positioning across patient, provider, and practice audiences.
- Builds repeatable campaign structures, messaging frameworks, and content templates that support provider engagement, sales enablement, clear pipeline attribution, and scalable execution.
4. Revenue Operations & Cross-Functional Enablement
- Owns the hands-on buildout of Akina’s sales and marketing tech stack, primarily HubSpot, including pipeline configuration, lifecycle stages, reporting dashboard, and automation workflows.
- Documents standard operating procedures for all core sales and marketing processes so that they are transferable, trainable and ready to scale as the team and business grows.
- Serves as the voice of the provider market internally, creating a consistent feedback loop between Sales, Marketing, Pharmacy, R&D, and Operations. Brings forward provider insights, product requests, objections, ordering trends, and market signals to help Akina prioritize product launches, refine messaging, improve sales enablement, and identify new growth opportunities.
5. Team Performance & Accountability
- Owns departmental metrics and revenue forecasting, tracking and reporting on pipeline health, conversion rates, and marketing performance weekly and monthly to drive continuous improvement.
- Sets team goals, runs weekly team meetings, holds consistent 1-on-1s, and creates the accountability structure that allows the team to execute with clarity and confidence.
What success looks like:
- A fully documented, functioning sales process with consistent pipeline activity and measurable conversion rates within the first 90 days
- HubSpot configured as Akina’s source of truth for pipeline, reporting, and marketing automation
- A team that understands its goals, has the tools to execute, and is receiving consistent coaching and feedback
- Revenue growth driven by repeatable, documented systems
- A marketing function that supports provider engagement, lead generation, sales enablement, and product launch execution, with clear pipeline attribution.
You'll set the standard and deliver on the following:
- Top Line Revenue Growth
- Pipeline Coverage Ratio
- Sales Activity Metrics
Qualifications and experience:
- 8–10 years of experience in B2B sales and marketing, ideally in healthcare or pharma
- Demonstrated track record of building sales or marketing systems from scratch
- Hands-on fluency in HubSpot (or similar CRM)
- Experience executing across both sales and marketing
- Experience translating customer, provider, or market feedback into sales strategy, product feedback, launch planning, or commercial enablement.
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- A bias for action and consistency
- Alignment with EOS or similar operating frameworks
You will have a leader who:
- Gives clear directions and expectations
- Make sure you have the necessary tools
- Delegates appropriately
- Has effective meetings
- Meets one-on-one with you quarterly or more, if needed
- Rewards and recognizes your performance
